Great Tips For People Traveling Many Miles for the World’s Longest Yard Sale

This year marked the 22nd year of the Longest Yard Sale that goes on along Highway 127 traveling through five states in America . It begins] in Alabama and Buckeye state of Ohio and is typically held for 4 days in early August, in 2009 it is from August 6-9. If you are an avid yard sale attendee you may find anything and everything from cheap designer clothes , antique furniture, clothing coupons , collectibles and cheap toys to note just a few.
Some serious yard sale fans have shopped at this huge event for all 22 years that it has been around . The sale has grown each year with more places joining in. The seasoned shoppers have some great tips on how to make the most of your travel experience while traveling along the longest yard sale. So get ready to wake up early and have fun finding some great treasures.
If you have never been to the region , you should have a plan before heading out and have a map on hand to find out where you want to go if you do not want to travel the whole 654 miles of the yard sale. To get all of the important facts you may need go to the official website of 127sale.com where you can find everything you may need about it. One of the biggest tips is to pack lightly and to travel in a large car. Even if you think you will only buy a couple of smaller items , you may find yourself having to get a great deal on a larger piece of furniture so make room in your vehicle for that possibility . Do not plan on shipping anything since there are very few shipping places in the several rural areas on Route 127 .
Other things to know when going to the world’s longest yard sale is that it is mostly in the south where it is extremely hot and humid in August . To prepare for that pack sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and bug spray to ward off the elements and the bugs . Also be certain to have a cooler and purchase snacks and drinks or water at a grocery store since there are several long stretches that are rural with no rest stops or even any places to eat available. Some sections of the sale do have vendors that sell regional food and you should participate in trying the local food while doing your shopping . Some wonderful items available are southern barbeque and corn bread.
Other tips to know when you attend the sale on route 127 is to bring a lot of cash as several sellers do not take credit cards or checks. Because it meanders through several little rural towns, available ATM machines are not usually easy to find . Another thing a lot of shoppers don’t think about are bathroom availability . Because there are long portions with no rest rooms you may have to go to the bathroom in the great outdoors so bring along your own toilet tissue in the event that there are no rest rooms available
